We had a problem with one of our kitchen outlets. Chad was the electrician that came out to our house on Monday, Aug 21. He was very professional & very quickly diagnosed & fixed the problem. Would definitely recommend & use again!

Service call took place in SE Palm Bay.  Work customer requested (outlet for microwave has no power.  Reset GFCI and breakers, but still isn’t working)  Work we did 02.03  Diagnostic

  1. Microwave receptacle not working. Breaker not tripped.
  2. Found good voltage in outlet box for microwave, receptacle not working properly. Recommend replacing receptacle.
  3. Replaced receptacle, confirmed 120v at receptacle. Plugged in microwave, tested it, re-set clock. Everything functioning appropriately.

When considering the task of replacing kitchen outlets, it is crucial to approach it with a professional mindset and adhere to electrical safety protocols. The first step is to carefully turn off the circuit breaker that supplies power to the kitchen area, ensuring complete disconnection from any live electricity source. Next, utilize a voltage tester to verify that there is no electrical current running through the outlet. Proceeding with caution, remove the cover plate and unscrew the outlet from its electrical box. It is essential to take note of which wires are connected and their respective colors before detaching them. After disconnecting the old outlet, assess if any wiring adjustments or repairs are necessary for proper installation of a new one. Utilize wire connectors to splice old and new wires together and securely position them back into the electrical box. Finally, attach the new outlet using screws provided, attach a cover plate, and restore power by turning on the appropriate breaker switch at your main electrical panel. Always prioritize safety by consulting with a licensed electrician for guidance if unsure about any step in this process or dealing with complex wiring configurations.

Once the new outlet is securely installed, it is important to test it to ensure it is functioning properly. Use a voltage tester to check for the presence of electrical current in the outlet. If the tester indicates that there is no current, you can proceed with confidence. However, if there is still current flowing through the outlet, it is crucial to double-check the wiring connections and make any necessary adjustments. Additionally, it is recommended to periodically inspect the outlets in your kitchen to ensure they are in good condition and free from any signs of wear or damage. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs are essential for maintaining a safe and efficient electrical system in your kitchen. Remember, if you are uncertain about any aspect of the process or encounter complex wiring configurations, it is always best to seek the assistance of a licensed electrician.
